The Catch 22 of Sleeping Babies

We've finally reached that time: when Ethan is sleeping longer than 2-3 hours at a time at night. He slept for 6 hours straight last night. So, that means I got more sleep right? Heck no! It means I slept for 4 hours, freaked out, checked on Ethan, went back to sleep for about 45 minutes, freaked out again and checked on him again. At that point I couldn't go back to sleep until after he woke up, ate and went back to sleep. I wonder how long it will take me to relax and enjoy sleep again. :)

This is why my babies sleep with me. Rachel has slept in our bed with us since birth, and Lizzy slept with us until we made her toddler room a couple months before Rachel was born. You got much more sleep this way, and the babies sleep longer and better too. Here is the research on it: http://www.cosleeping.org/

It might be a while. I was doing the "get up and check" thing for a couple of weeks with Tingen. He's doing great now though, sleeping about 9 to 10 hours at night straight (he wakes up around 4 or 5am). Hang in there!
