Overdue Update

Yikes! I haven't posted for over 3 weeks! Here's what's been going on:

My heart procedure went so well that I didn't have to spend the night in the hospital. Hurray! My cardiologist disabled two extra pathways in my heart. He had to go in through my neck as well as the groin. It wasn't nearly as traumatic as I thought it would be. The only complaint that I had was that I found out that I have developed an allergy to ALL adhesive tape. Oh yes, anything sticky causes a terrible rash. I had to keep bandages on the 3 incision sites for about a week which means that I had 3 really bad rashes there and some minor rashes from the IV tape and all of the pads from the heart monitor. (Now that all of the rashes have healed) I feel so great! If I would have known how much of a difference it was going to make I would have had it done a lot sooner! I won't know until November if it was officially successful but I'm very hopeful.

Ethan is so close to crawling! He can make 3 or 4 crawling movements before he flattens out and scoots on his tummy. He can easily get from his stomach into a sitting position which makes him very happy. Now we're trying to help him learn how to roll from his back to his tummy. The weird thing about Ethan is that although he makes a lot of noise, he isn't practicing his consonants anymore. We're not really sure if this is something to worry about or not.

Alex is really really close to completely mastering riding his tricycle! He'd have it by now if it weren't for the fact that we don't get out as much to practice as I would like. The reasons are #1: it's pretty hot now and #2: it's difficult to help Alex when I need to carry around Ethan. I just don't want him crawling on the grass where dogs poop and pee and the sidewalk seems just as dirty. A fun activity that we've discovered is using sidewalk chalk on our balcony. Alex is technically outside playing while Ethan is safe inside.

Tonight or tomorrow I'll post some pictures. Stay tuned!

Next time ask them to use the colorful self-sticking tape stuff that they wrap around your arm after a blood draw. Lizzy and I both get rashes from the tape, too, so we always ask for that instead.

i love the porch as an alternative. That's the dinnertime routine - while I make dinner, they go out with chalk and bubbles and a ball and they stay out from between my legs.
