We were at the mall yesterday waiting patiently for the family bathroom to open up. When the previous occupants came out, Alex announced to them in a crystal clear voice, "I have diarrhea!" Yes, Alex has reached that charming stage. I feel fortunate that this is the first time he has truly embarrassed us in public but perhaps the reason is that we don't get out much. That might reduce my cabin fever slightly.
Ethan's communication issue is very different in nature. When Alex was learning how to speak, "frog" sounded like the "F" word, "sit" sounded like the "S" word and "down" sounded like the "D" word. His favorite place to say these words was at church but it wasn't a big deal because we knew what he was trying to say and we would explain to whoever was staring, "He's trying to say ___." We would then repeat the proper pronunciation of the word he was trying to say. Well, we have no clue what on Earth Ethan is trying to say but it CLEARLY sounds like "FU" (the full version, not the abbreviation). He has said it now in two very different situations so we are at a loss. Needless to say, we are slightly dreading church next Sunday.
Despite these embarrassing moments, I love my boys dearly!

Needless to say...after a while you can't become embarrassed any longer. Seriously after a while you just smile and nod adoringly at your child and pray that you never see the people surrounding you again.
Lizzy used to pronounce "frog" the same way! She yelled it once during a silent moment in the middle of Stake Conference!!
