Adventures in Spelling

Alex knows the letters in the alphabet so we've been playing spelling games with him. We point out the letters in a word and then say the word. Alex has a blast with the game. Anyway, we have some folding chairs in our kitchen. This morning Alex pointed to a word on the back of one of the folding chairs and said "C-O-S-C-O, chair!" Alex was pretty pleased with himself. Once I was able to stop laughing I told him that the word actually said "Cosco" which was the brand of the chair and I told him how to spell "chair." Alex is so much fun!

I do the same thing with Lizzy! Great minds think alike. She loves spelling and asks me how to spell stuff all the time. I think she thinks it's cool that every word can be made with letters.

WOW! I'm impressed. My boys don't do that, but they sure enjoy the alphabet.

:) Sometimes the spelling game is the only way I can keep Alex calm in the car. We spelled with him for almost an hour when we were driving back from St. George.

That's what we did with Lizzy in the car on the way to and from California this summer! I knew there was a reason we were such good friends. We have the same brain.
